I pick up where Monday's episode with Taffy left off, and talk about how I learned to believe in myself through the most stressful, panicked months of my career.

It followed the greatest period of my career: selling my first book and then learning that DreamWorks wanted to make it a movie, with Cary Fukunaga to direct. That single story in Deadline made the whole endeavor super scary for me. I had never before been so fearful, never lost as much sleep as I did in the months after I signed the movie contract. How I got through it, how I got to the point where the Times gave me a glowing book review, is the story of this episode.
